When you diving into a pool of water, or ducking under a wave; as you take the plunge you have to hold your breath so that when you find your way up and out, you can begin to exhale. Then once you are out on the other other side you can inhale and start again. The same goes for when you pass a large industrial plant that omits very smelly odour; you hold your breath. The global pandemic we are experiencing has locked, isolated, limited, and quarantined us from life and forced us to mask our breath. So then how do we breathe?
Those of you who read articles, or newsletters like this are normally
people who look after others, worry about others, follow up on others,
ask after others. There is absolutely nothing wrong with doing that,
however what is wrong is forgetting about you.
Here is an exercise for you. I want you to look in the mirror, (even if you sitting in your car now, or in the bathroom, or in the lounge). Firstly quieten your mind, put your phone down, get up and look yourself right in the eyes. Ask yourself, how are you... really? That is correct, how are you... really?
3. STEP OUT OF THE PRODUCTIVITY FRENZY
The lockdown has gotten everyone into an absolute productivity
frenzy. Baking up a storm, making YouTube video's, try to be the next
TikTok celeb, taking up all the challenges, posting all the challenges,
home schooling, eating, snacking, eating, cooking, washing dishes and so
on... You are living this, you know where you stand in this
productivity frenzy. I do not judge you ever, the only thin I ask is to
take a step back and reflect.
I understand that this is an unfamiliar, uncomfortable space we all find ourselves in, and being uber busy is not going to help our concerns or fears. It may be that we are trying to out run them when we only had the yard to run in... but now, its time to slow down and decide for yourself, what you really feeling and experiencing here.
4. ERADICATE THE WORD FINE
It is time to turn up the heat.
Exercise number 2: Provide yourself the opportunity to find the right word for what you are feeling; make the circle bigger.... exactly make that vocabulary circle bigger. This will also provide your with the genuine ability of really knowing how to describe how you feel (seeing the word find is being kicked to the curb). Follow the link below and build your emo vocab :)

5. THE MAGIC OF JOURNALING
I can hear some of you saying "bleh" or "rolling your eyes" when I
say journalling. Let me give you an analogy to this. Do you or do you
not like being surprised by Facebook or Twitter when these apps provide
you with a post of a memory from 5 years ago or even 1 year ago and you
are like, "wow, did that happen then", or "awe look at my kiddies"; ...
do you get the picture I am painting?
That aside,
most of your Facebook or IG posts are (the majority) always only happy
posts, not the raw truthful posts. Your journal however can be the place
where you can be downright brutally raw, honest and truthful. You also
do not have to write it in a book if you are afraid it may be found,
there are apps for this peeps... Right there on your phone and you can
secure it with a password. (link below of an online app journal). You
can also use the new words you have acquired in point 4 to add to your
lifestory. (exercise 3 if you dare)
